Metal matrix composites like WC, TIC mix particles can be uniformly dispersed in the metal matrix. These grains are smooth rounded, imparting excellent lubricity. They are held firmly in place by binders selected to determine such characteristics as hardness, toughness, resistance to heat, corrosion and other environmental conditions. Composite hardness for such materials can go up to 87 HRA, but TCI particles inside have much higher hardness as 1850 kg/mm² and also sliding effect to reduce the wear.
